How it works
A map pin gets riders to the street. Doorstep gets them to your gate.
Most delivery calls happen in the last 50 metres: which gate, which building, which floor. Doorstep puts the pin, a photo of your entrance and your own directions behind one link.
If you’re sending your address
-
1
Drop your pin
Tap Use my location, paste a Google Maps link, or tap the map. Then drag the pin onto your actual gate, not just the street.
-
2
Add what a rider needs
A line of directions (“Blue gate opposite the pharmacy, 2nd floor”), and if you like a photo of the entrance and a phone number.
-
3
Choose how long it lasts
One-time (24 hours) for a single delivery, 7 days, or Permanent for your home or shop.
-
4
Share the link or QR code
Send it on WhatsApp, paste it into a checkout note, or print the QR code for your gate. Keep the private manage link to edit or delete it later.
If you’re the rider
- Open the link. No app or account needed.
- Tap Navigate to open Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps with the exact pin as the destination.
- On arrival, check the gate photo and directions, or tap Call if a number was shared.
Questions
Why not just send a Google Maps link?
You can, and for some places that’s enough. You can even paste one into Doorstep to set your pin. A Doorstep link adds what a map pin can’t:
- The last 50 metres. A photo of your gate and directions like “second floor, ask for Femi”. A pin alone can’t say which gate.
- The right spot, not the nearest business. Shared Google locations often snap to a nearby shop or landmark name, which sends riders to the wrong door.
- Any navigation app. One tap opens Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps.
- One link you can change. Edit the directions or photo and every copy you’ve sent updates. No resending.
- You stay in control. Make it expire after one delivery, or delete it any time. A shared map pin can’t be taken back.
- A printable QR code for your gate, shop counter or delivery notes.
Do I need an account?
No. When you create a link you get a private manage link. Save it (there’s a button to send it to yourself on WhatsApp) and you can edit or delete your address from any phone.
Who can see my address?
Anyone you give the link to, and anyone they forward it to. Links are random and hidden from search engines, but only share them with people you trust. Use a one-time link when you don’t need a permanent one. See the privacy notice.
Is my NIPOST postcode checked?
Doorstep checks it has the right shape (11 characters, like LA 08 A14 JM 11) and links it to NIPOST’s own page for that building, so you and your rider can see where it points. Only NIPOST can confirm a code belongs to a building, so open the link once to make sure it’s yours. You can also print it as a gate plate.
How accurate is the pin?
As accurate as you make it. Phone location can be off by 10 to 50 metres indoors, so Doorstep warns you when the reading is rough. Dragging the pin onto your gate fixes it.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There’s no sign-up and no app to install.
